Folgers French Vanilla Coffee: Candy For Breakfast
We ran out of coffee here at the house, and my roommate picked up some Folgers French Vanilla to replace it. I’m generally not picky about my coffee; our last batch was store-brand French roast (I do like French roast though). So the point is, that this new coffee is pretty amazing. Actually, it tastes only slightly above-average to me, but it smells like candy when you brew it. Every day around 8 AM, our house smells like sweet deliciousness. Perhaps I’m one step closer to having productive mornings.
What kind of coffee do you drink? Are you picky? Do you load it up with sugar and cream, or take it straight-up black?

I used to drink it with cream until I grew up and became lazy. I gave up the cream in exchange for the conveniece of the pour and go black cup about 28 years ago….imagine the time I have saved over years. It’s staggering. What did I do with it??
As for my favorite brew…it’s the Bay Blend from Trader Joes. Favorite coffee shop brew…Joyful’s Cafe in Downers Grove.

I know it surprised me, but there really is a huge difference between a good cup of coffee and a cup that is merely OK. At work we have a machine that does single serving, any-way you want it roasted coffee. It has individual cups with different flavors and strengths. It sounds pretty amazing and it was a fun toy at first, but it simply runs too much water through the grounds and no matter what you end up with a weak cup of coffee. Because of this, I always get my coffee from the pot we have on my floor because it brews the best cup of Starbucks coffee every morning, usually the breakfast blend.
To answer your question more specifically though, I usually add a teeny tiny bit of sugar and use a single-serve creamer, either french vanilla or hazelnut, depending on what my mood is in the morning. I’m not sure why I even add the sugar since it is such a small amount, but the cream cuts the coffee attack really well early in the morning so I’m not assaulted with flavor at 9am.

If I drink coffee, I’ll add milk and sugar (no cream, I don’t like the taste of cream), unless I use a liquid, refrigerated creamer (emphasis on refrigerated, because if it’s just been sitting out, it doesn’t do what i want it to do). If I use the refrigerated creamer, it’s usually a flavored one so that way not only does it cool down the coffee, but also makes it so I don’t have to add any sugar to it. I do like the Hazelnut Creme coffee that Joyfuls has, French Vanilla is my second favorite, French roast coming in a close third.
